Letters of Recommendation

This is a collection of some of the more profound letters of recommendation I have received over the course of my internship at The Monterey County Adult Probation Department.

This letter of recommendation is from Mike McNew.

Biography taken from my recommendation letter:

Officer Mike McNew is a Probation Services Manager, and also a supervisor of the pretrial unit, department’s house arrest, mental health court, and drug court units at Monterey County Adult Probation Department. Prior to this assignment McNew was the manager for Monterey County Juvenile hall for 7 years. He has been working in the criminal justice system since 1968, including 25 years as a probation officer. Also for 16 years he owned his own business in San Diego working as sentencing expert for defense attorneys nationwide on both state and federal cases. During this time was a sentencing consultant his office took on two or more interns per semester from the sociology department at San Diego State University. He has worked with at least another 50 interns mostly from California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB).

Recommendation Letter (1)

This letter of recommendation is from Lorena Cuffney.

Officer Lorena Cuffney is the Department Probation Officer (DPO) II for the Monterey County Probation Department. She currently works for the pretrial unit. The pretrial unit is where offenders are giving an opportunity for early release as an alternative to jail time. She has been with the department for more than 20 years.
